green light Ambachtsezoom

The State Council ruled Wednesday, July 11, on the Ambachtsezoom Business Park zoning plan. The municipality got the green light for the circular business park, which will be the first natural gas-free business park in the Netherlands.

André Flach, alderman for the economy: “We are very pleased with this ruling. This business park is important for our municipality: it means economic growth and employment. There is room for 30 to 50 companies, this will create 450 to 750 jobs!”

investing in a sustainable future
The Ambachtsezoom zoning plan has come into effect, and needs some minor adjustments. After the summer break, the municipality will start pre-taxing and preparing the area for construction.

Earlier, in 2015, the Ambachtsezoom zoning plan was still rejected by the Council of State. That caused quite a delay. Alderman Flach: “We used that time well. The plan has now become extra sustainable and circular. Of course we opt for natural gas-free. And we are going to apply the latest developments in the circular field. This is very attractive for entrepreneurs who want to invest in a sustainable future.”

circular and natural gas-free

Ambachtsezoom is a 15-hectare business park, easily accessible due to its location on the A16 and near the A15. It is small-scale, energy-neutral and natural gas-free. All materials of buildings, roads and public areas are recyclable. Innovative collective solutions for energy, water and materials minimize the ecological footprint of the park and its businesses. Everything of value remains in the area as much as possible. For example, using rainwater for cooling, turning solar energy into electricity and perhaps even using waste from one as a valuable resource for another. There will be full service park management.
